Comprehensive Psychological Testing
Life Matters Psychological Services offers a variety of psychological testing services for children and adults. A psychological evaluation examines an individual's behavior, personality, and cognitive functioning. This type of evaluation is used to help determine an individual's diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. The evaluation will include a detailed social history and clinical interview, a review of medical records, and a comprehensive battery of tests.
At Life Matters Psychological Services, we evaluate clients with a wide variety of psychological disorders. A psychoeducational evaluation involves examining a child's cognitive, academic, and behavioral skills and analyzing how these factors impact a child's performance in school. The tests administered will focus on your child's performance in school and the different factors that may be impacting their performance.
The evaluations that we provide are also used to obtain classroom accommodations and special resources, such as having a reader, being eligible for extra time on exams, working on a computer, having a scribe, or taking tests in a quiet room with few others and frequent breaks. These accommodations are often important for children with learning or attention disorders. Psychoeducational assessments are commonly sought for:
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Learning Disabilities (such as Dyslexia, Reading, Math, and Writing Disorders)
- Anxiety Disorders
- Processing Delays
- Academic Problems
- Behavioral Problems
- Socialization Problems
- Developmental Disorders
- Memory & Attention Problems
- Disability & Competency
After the Evaluation
Our reports are typically available 1-2 weeks after the testing is completed and previous documentation has been submitted. The final step in the evaluation process is the feedback conference. This conference is held with the client or client's parents. During this conference, the evaluating psychologist will discuss the results of the evaluation, answer questions, and provide appropriate recommendations.
