Individual Therapy

Many people shy away from individual counseling because it suggests to them that they "must be crazy." At Life Matters, we view individual counseling as a powerful relationship in which we allow clients to express their innermost thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a nonjudgmental and unbiased environment. Your therapy session is a safe space in which to vent your feelings and receive meaningful and useful feedback. Your therapist is present and can help you to actively problem solve or weigh the pros and cons of a situation that you may be struggling to resolve. You are free to develop your own goals with the help and encouragement of your therapist as well as revise and revisit your goals as you make therapeutic gains. You are not crazy if you attend therapy. Instead, we view therapeutic as a proactive approach to dealing with symptoms and life issues. Self-exploration is strongly encouraged.

Couples' Counseling

Couples' counseling is not limited to those who are married or would like pre-marital counseling. Our Couples' Institute is designed to support and encourage couples across all economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations. Some of the relationship issues that may be addressed in therapy include:

  • Poor Communication
  • Recurring Conflict & Arguments
  • Emotional Distance
  • Contemplating Separation
  • Sexual Difficulties
  • Infidelity
  • Parenting Issues
  • Financial Problems & Poor Money Management

Building a Strong Relationship

Dr. Gayle and Mr. Muller each work with couples independently, but they often conduct couples' sessions jointly, each contributing to the session in a dynamic way. As a married couple, they inspire other couples to open their hearts in ways they never thought possible. As a team, they model healthy communication and provide couples with tools to deal more effectively with everyday relationship stressors.

These sessions are interactive and allow for open and direct communication in a way that most couples cannot achieve on their own. Their interventions are designed to help couples strengthen their relationships. Couples learn to explore their negative conflicts or negative patterns of communication and replace these with positive interactions so that they can move past prior conflicts. Our sessions increase intimacy, closeness, and emotional connections and acknowledge that both parties are committed to achieving the same goals.

Our team provides therapy and services to clients as young a five years old. Our family-oriented approach helps identify a child's strengths and weaknesses, which can help schools create programs that work. Our testing services identify disabilities, giftedness, ADHD, and other issues that may affect your child's education. We also help families deal with anxiety, depression, poor motivation, and a wide range of diagnostic disorders.

While we accept insurance for couples' sessions, should you elect to have both Dr. Gayle and Mr. Muller conduct your sessions jointly, there is a flat rate of $200 per session. When you call to schedule an appointment, please specify that you would like an 80-minute joint session.
